My Paleo Eating Journal

Day 26

Posted on: June 10, 2011

Breakfast: paleo cereal with berries and milk; rooibos tea with milk

Lunch: skipped

Dinner: guacamole with corn tortilla chips

Dessert: one square 85% dark chocolate

Exercise: long bike ride with the dog, 2.5 hours of weed whacking

Thoughts: It felt great to be out on the bike today. Haven’t been on a ride since Monday. With Husband away for work 3 days a week, I need to get in my rides when I can. With summer here and lots of outdoor projects, however, there are always opportunities to be active.

I had a late breakfast today, so I skipped lunch. Around dinner we were getting ready to watch the Canucks in the Stanley Cup Playoffs and we all wanted something special to eat. The kids got pizza, Hubby got cheddar smokies, but I allowed myself on of my favorite no-cook meals: guacamole. While the dip itself is all allowable, the tortilla chips definitely aren’t. So yes, it’s a definite cheat. I suppose I was feeling cocky because the weight loss is going great this week. Here’s hoping I haven’t jinxed myself! 🙂

The Basics

My way of eating is based on a Paleo/Primal diet and is comprised mainly of saturated animal fat (grass-fed meat, pastured eggs, butter), nuts and seeds (almonds, pecans, macadamia nuts, coconut, pumpkin seeds) and their oils (coconut oil, avocado oil) and lots of vegetables and fruit. I eat virtually no sugar (other than that contained naturally in fruit), potatoes or sweet potatoes, beans or legumes, and no grains or grain products.
