Breakfast: paleo cereal with berries and milk

Lunch: jicama and a small smoothie

Dinner: bacon and eggs with fried tomatoes

Dessert: one square 85% dark chocolate

Thoughts: I cheated last night by having 2 Peek Freans cookies. My mother brought them over for the kids when she visited last weekend, and as I was doling them out before bed I simply couldn’t resist. I don’t usually have things like cheese buns and cookies lying around the house. But I’ve also found that the last couple days I’ve been skipping a good lunch because I’m busy tending to my Pox-ridden kids. When I get to that “I’m staaaaarving” stage and there is a carb fix lying around, it’s tempting. I need to remember to listen to my body and eat when I’m hungry, not when I’m famished. When I do that I don’t find carbs very tempting.

The Basics

My way of eating is based on a Paleo/Primal diet and is comprised mainly of saturated animal fat (grass-fed meat, pastured eggs, butter), nuts and seeds (almonds, pecans, macadamia nuts, coconut, pumpkin seeds) and their oils (coconut oil, avocado oil) and lots of vegetables and fruit. I eat virtually no sugar (other than that contained naturally in fruit), potatoes or sweet potatoes, beans or legumes, and no grains or grain products.
